Circular Runway Could Revolutionize Air Travel

The Endless Runway allows 3 planes to take off and land at any given time. The runway's incline limits crosswinds making landings much smoother and planes can take off in any direction. The runway's diameter is 3.5 km.

The Airport Hub would sit inside the circle, making it compact and convenient for everyone. The Endless Runway Concept was thought up by the Netherlands Aerospace Centre which aims to make it a reality by 2050.

The aviation sector currently doubles in size every 15 years. The Endless Runway takes up a third of the space of typical airports making it better for the environment and better for travellers.
