Protect Yourself Against Ransomware

ransomware attacks

How to protect against ransomware attacks?

What ransomware is, is it's a type of malware that encrypts your files. And then what happens, something pops up on your screen saying, ""Your files have been locked" and you should go get 500 bucks to somebody's name, or whatever, in Russia. And unless you do so, your files are encrypted and you're not gonna get the key to unlock them.

Why does that works?

Because most people don't back up their stuff. So they pay the ransom, because they want to recover the data. I backup my computer on a daily basis. So, stop, look, and think before you click on a link sent to you in an email or open up an attachment so that don't fall for the phishing attack that's going to infect you in the first place. And if you do fall for it, at least you can restore from your latest backup and you're good. But, if you don't have a backup you're probably stuck.
