Egypt unveils restored statue of Ramses II who was the most powerful and celebrated of the ancient Pharaohs. The sculpture is 36ft (11m) tall and weighs 75 tonnes. It was in 57 pieces when discovered between 1958 and 1960.

Ramses II reigned more than 3,000 years ago. The statue was displayed shortly after experts unveiled a 3,000 year old tomb. The latest in a series of major finds of ancient relics in Egypt.

Khaled al-Anani Antiquities minister said "We were surprised by the number of objects found inside. A lot of pottery, a lot a ushabti, more than 1,000, a lot of coffins, mummies, stelae, statuettes.."

Officials hope the new discoveries will revive tourism that's been hit by political instability.
