Start A Fire With Your Cell Phone

Fire With Your Cell Phone

You're stranded in the woods alone, the sun is going down, and you need to start a fire quickly before it gets too cold. What do you do? Here's how to start a fire with a lithium-ion batter. In extremely desperate situations, using your phone's battery as a fire starter is a great technique.

Warning - But just note - lithium-ion fires are extremely dangerous and toxic. This technique should only be used as a last resort.

There are two different ways to do this after you're pried the battery out. First, try to create a spark if your battery still has energy left in it. Take a conductive object with a rubber handle, like a knife, and touch both the positive and negative ends of the battery with the blade to create sparks for your fire.

But if the battery is completely dead - place it in the kindling and quickly pierce the battery with a sharp object. This will "short" the battery, causing extreme temperatures that will ignite the flammable materials inside. But as you do this, make sure to cover your nose and mouth with cloth, as the fumes coming out of the battery are toxic.
