Why are taxicabs yellow? Researchers have discovered a very good reason. Yellow cabs end up in fewer accidents. In singapore, some cabs are yellow while others are blue. Researchers tracked over 16,000 of these cabs for 3 months.
In daytime, yellow cabs were 5% less likely to be rear ended but the big difference came after sunset. yellow cabs are 19% less likely to be rear ended at night. probably since yellow cabs are easier to see under street lamps. So why aren't all cabs yellow? If they were, Singapore could save an estimated $1.4 million/yr.
