They utilized their rooftops to build beehives. This includes:
- Clift Hotel
- The Fairmont San Francisco
- Holiday Inn and Express Fisherman's Wharf
- Marriott Fisherman's Wharf
- Omni San Francisco
- W San Francisco
- Hotel Zetta
The bees are able to find gardens and trees throughout the city and return to the rooftops daily. The bee population have grown from 10,000 to 80,000 in just a few months. In return the hotels get bee products such as honey and wax which their guests can enjoy.
Clift Hotel offers special drinks and salad made with honey. In Fairmont, they have a honeycomb themed tap where you can get honey beer.
