Android Nougat To Receive Its First Major Update

Android Nougat

Google is expected to roll out Android 7.1 beta an update to its latest Nougat version soon. Today, we're taking the wraps off of Android 7.1 Nougat, the latest version of the platform. You probably saw a sneak peek of it at last week's event. It's an incremental update based on Android 7.0 but includes new features for consumers and developers from platform Day dream VR support and A/B system updates to app shortcuts and image keyboard support, Dave Burke, Android engineering VP posted on the official website on Tuesday.

The Developer preview of Android 7.1 will be available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C tablets. The final version will be available by early December for supported Android One devices. On the other hand, Google's latest smartphones including Pixel and Pixel XL will already come equipped with the latest Android 7.1 version. However, this update will not be the same as the one for other devices. The Pixel devices will come with additional features such as Google Assistant, Pixel Launcher, Pixel Camera and 24/7 customer support. Additionally, the Android 7.1 update will also add circular app icons support, which is considered to be a move that will make Pixel and Android Launcher appear similar.
