Sarla Thakral was born in 1914 in Delhi at a time when flying was still new and women were largely confined to their homes. Thakral's fierce determination helped her get her aviation license at the young age of 21. Her first flight was in a Gypsy Moth, in a saree!
After 1,000 hours of flying, Thakral got her 'A' License as India's first woman pilot, however she continues to be source of inspiration to many.
