APJ Abdul Kalam - 1931-2015

Kalam was born in Rameshwaram as a kid, he sold newspapers to support his family. He earned a degree in physics in 1954 and studied Aerospace Engineering at Madras Institute Of Technology. He designed India's first indigenous hovercraft at the start of his career.

SLV 3 Rohini 1

At ISRO, Kalam led the project that indigenously developed the SLV-III which launched Rohini-1.

He served as chief project coordinator for Pokhran II nuclear tests. Earning him the name "Missile Man Of India." He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1997.

Kalam served his Presidential term from 2002 to 2007 and was called 'The People's President' after his term, he pursued academia and continued his mission to inspire young Indians across the country.
