Experts claim it belonged to the ancient Pandiya era. Excavations show that the site was a urban center. It has an underground drainage system laid with baked clay pipe lines. The team has also unearthed more than 3000 artefacts, including Iron Implements, Antiquities and Earthenware. Pots from Rome dating back to 3rd century BC were also found, indication the site was popular with foreign traders. Unearthing India's rich history, one excavation at a time .
