Colombian Soldiers

More than a dozen soldiers have died after their helicopter crashed in the mountains. There were riding in a Russian made Mi-17 aircraft and en route to Tolemaida military base from the jungle province of Choco.

Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos said that "We're waiting for the result of the investigation to see what really happened. It's sad event, a sad episode and our hearts are with the families of these fallen heroes who died doing their job."

An initial army statement said bad weather could be to blame for the crash. It's not the 1st such incident. 16 police officers died in August 2015 after a mechanical failure caused their helicopter to crash.
