Brihadeeswara Temple Tallest Temple

How many cranes does it take to erect a 2016 ft temple? None, the Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. It was built for Raja Raja Chola 1 and completed in 1010 AD. The 1000 year old Shiv temple is the tallest in the world.

It was constructed using the Interlock Technique with 1.3 lakh tonnes of granite. This technique uses no cement or adhesive. 3000 elephants were used to transport these rocks. The top of the temple is called the Kumbham. It is made of a single 81 tonne granite stone and it was placed using a 6 km ramp with the help of horses, elephants and bulls. An ancient architectural marvel built by the Dravidians
