Scientists warn Mount Everest glaciers
are at risk of disappearing. Glaciers in the Mount Everest
could shrink at least 70 per cent or even disappear entirely by the end 2100
due to change in climate.
What’s Happening?
Model test:
- A model was tested with right weather patterns. However, when temperatures were increased, according to different emission scenarios, the model
- Showed that the glaciers were melting very fast and flood communities living downstream.
Possible Impacts : Shrinking glaciers could affect water
supplies in the Everest, with volumes of snow melt flowing into Dudh Kosi river.
