Ugadi is a word derived from the Sanskrit word called as Yugadi, where Yuga is age and adi is beginning. Ugadi is new year for people of south India. Telangana, AP and Karnataka people call it as Ugadi and the same day Maharashtra people call it as Gudi Padwa.
Ugadi is beginning of a new Hindu lunar calendar with a change in the moon's orbit. people visit temples and chant mantras and listen to Panchanga Sravanam or listening to the yearly calendar where the predictions made for the new year.
