Bathukamma Telangana Floral Festival

Bathukamma is Telangana's floral festival celebrated during Durga Navratri for nine days. It starts on the day of Mahalaya Amavasya and ends on 9th day called as Saddula Bathukamma or Pedda Bathukamma. Bathukamma is celebrated by women of Telangana.

In Telugu  Bathukamma means Mother Goddess come Alive. On the day of Saddula Bathukamma the women dress up in the traditional sari and make make Bathukamma with different flowers. Some of the flowers used in making the Bathukamma are Celosia, Senna, Marigold, Chrysanthemum, Indian Lotus, Cucurbita, Cucumis, Ipomoea, Luffa, Tridax and Ajwain.
