Light Powered By Gravity - GravityLight

Light Powered By Gravity

This light is powered by gravity. GravityLight relies on a 26.5 pound weight attached to a bead string. The weight can either be a bag of rocks or sand. The weight falls super slowly on the string. This mechanism helps transform potential energy to kinetic energy.

This generates around 1/10th of a watt, enough to power an LED. Once the weight reaches the floor it can be reset to repeat the process. This invention could be huge for developing countries in need of light. GravityLight is clean, safe, affordable and sustainable alternative, to the standard kerosene lamp.
