She was born in a poor family whose parents divorced when she was 5. The young girl and her mother struggled to survive in poverty. Selena Gomez said, "I was frustrated that my parents weren't together, because my mother had to do 3 jobs to support me. They even struggled just to put food on the table. We would get stuck in traffic all the time and search for pennies to get petrol for the car."

Her mother would save up money to take her to concerts and that's how she developed passion for singing and acting. Even after getting in the showbiz early on in her life she has been battling depression and anxiety since her teens.

She said, "I started having panic attacks before getting on-stage, or right after leaving the stage". But ever since she got fame, she has worked hard to give back to the community. And now, her openness about it has turned into a sign of strength.

Soon, her TV show '13 Reasons Why' became a voice of the ones facing a similar situation to hers. She said, "I lost sight of who i was, i listened to opinions of people and i tried to change who i am, because i thought that others would accept me for it. And i realized i don't know how to be anything but myself."

Today Selena Gomez is one of the most famous celebrities of this time.Selena's story teaches us that " Tough times don't last; Tough people do".
