Fighting Back Against Pollution - CityTree

CityTree

This 'CityTree' could save thousands of lives by removing 240 metric tons of CO2 a year from our air. Its creators claim it has the same health benefit as 275 individual trees. It uses moss to filter pollutants out of the air.

The moss absorbs the dangerous chemicals to its own biomass. It is placed in areas with high levels of pollution and filters the air clean. It was invented to battle deadly air pollution. Outdoor air pollution kills over 3 million people a year.

It uses moss which has a higher leaf surface area than any other plant. It is also equipped with pollution sensors to monitor local air quality and make sure it is operating efficiently. Millions of people die prematurely from air pollution every year. If trials are successful, we are one step closer to cleaner cities.
