Scores Killed In Ethiopian Stampede

Ethiopian Stampede

Police use teargas and fire into the air to disperse anti government protesters in Bishoftu, Ethiopia. Thousands of people had gathered for a religious festival. But the event quickly turned violent. Sporadic protests have hit Oromiya province in the last 2 years. Initial demonstrations were over a land row, but they've since turned more broadly against the government. Hundreds of people have been killed in clashes with police since 2015.
