Riot Of Colours

Saddula Bathukamma, which is celebrated with fervour, came to a conclusion in Vemulawada on Thursday. It is believed that a Chola ruler took away the Siva Linga (Brihadeeswara) from Vemulawada, after defeating Chalukya rulers, and gifted it to his father in Tanjavur in Tamil Nadu where a huge temple was built. On knowing about this, women in Telangana felt injustice was done to Goddess Parvathi and launched a Bathukamma protest which included singing songs and dancing.
