Auroville Chennai

Auroville is a town free of government, religion and money. It is located in South India, 150 kilometers from Chennai. At the center of Auroville is Matrimandir, the 'Soul Of The City'. Across it is an urn containing soil from 124 nations when the township was founded. It is self sufficient with over 160 hectares of farms, cornfields and orchards.


Founded in 1968, Auroville is also known as the "City Of Dawn". It is hailed as an international city by UNESCO and is backed by the Indian Government. It's inhabitants are over 50 nationalities from different cultural backgrounds. This international community is said to be an experiment to realize human unity. A place where everybody can peacefully coexist.
