Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the biggest festivals in India. The festival has been celebrated since the time of Maratha King Shivaji. The current Maharashtra public festival was started by Bhausaheb Laxman Javale. He installed the first public Ganesha idol in 1892. Later Lokmanya Tilak popularised the festival to foster patriotism. Now, Maharashtra is known for it's grand scale celebrations. The total insurance cover for just pandals is around 450 crores every year. The most popular of all, Lalbaugcha Raja's pandal alone is insured for 51 crores. But the popularity of our Lord Ganesha is not restricted to our country. Lord Ganesha is also worshiped in Thailand, USA, UK, Nepal and China.
