Creating Electricity From Footsteps

Pavegen Electricity

One company has found a way to create electricity using human footsteps. This technology converts mechanical energy from steps into usable electrical energy. Pavegen has been building energy harvesting floor tiles since 2009. The new V3 Floor Tile uses a triangular design to harness more power from steps, generating 5 watts continuous power, it is 200 times more efficient than old versions.

Some dance clubs are using the tiles to power their light and sound systems. And they can even be used to charge an electric vehicle. Pavegen hopes to install tiles in public places to raise awareness about sustainability.
