Meet the lesser known victims of Yemen's civil war. Nearly 300 animals are starving in a zoo in Taiz. They are in desperate need of medical care.

12 lions and 6 leopards have already died of neglect. No government aid is forthcoming amid the airstrikes. A fund campaign was started by two Europeans. After pictures of critical animals were posted online. Sponsors brought them some respite but the funds have now dried up. The zoo workers fear they could fall prey to poachers and sold off in illegal trade. the animals continue to be in a perilous state. Overshadowed by the quest to save human lives
