Speaking about the heat wave and water conservation PM Narendra Modi said that most parts of the country are experiencing intense heat wave. Animals, birds and humans alike are reeling under the scorching heat. These are occurring due to the degradation of the environment and man's destruction of nature has in turn paved the way for man's own destruction

5th June in international environment day UN has chosen the theme of 'Zero Tolerance for Illegal Wildlife Trade'. But we should also talk about our forests and water resources. We recently witnessed forest fires in Uttarakhand, Himachal and J&K. They occurred because dried leaves catch fire at the slightest spark.

He said he recently met chief ministers of 11 states facing drought and decided that we must come up with ideas and initiatives to conserve water. He said that he believe water is god's gift. water storage, conservation and micro irrigation are equally important. Many states are adding 2-3 lakh hectares of land under micro irrigation annually, such steps will help both cultivation and water conservation.
