Captain Cooks Gifts Returned

The Kia'i - or guardians standing beside indigenous Hawaiian garments in Wellington, on Friday. The gifts, given to Captain James Cook shortly before he was killed 237 years ago, were handed back to their traditional owners at a ceremony on Friday. Described as "priceless" by New Zealand's national museum, the gifts were given to Cook in 1779 during the famous British explorer's last voyage.
