Maha Shivaratri - The Day Shiva Married Goddess Parvati




Maha Shivaratri which is also called as Shivaratri is a Hindu festival celebrated annually. It is the day that lord Shiva married to goddess Parvati.

On this day people celebrate by offerings of Bael leaves to Shiva and do fasting whole day. They also do Jagaran on this day. Jagaran is the act of intentionally staying awake. During Jagaran devotees themselves engaged in group singing, chanting, listening to the stories of Shiva. 

Lord Shiva Tandava

It is also believed that on this day lord Shiva has performed cosmic dance which is called as Tandava.
